about a phrase that came up recently . . .
“liking things though you’d never do them yourself.”
i often will point out to myself how we are not necessarily what we like. i mean, because i like a thing doesn’t mean that’s the thing for me, that i should do it, or be a part of that culture, etc. i can like trees but it doesn’t mean i should be a horticulturalist or botanist, or that i’d be good/bad at either – or even that i [should] like the colour green. it just means i like trees. additional meanings may ensue but, in-of-itself, what we like does not wholly define our station.
